Last updated 13 October 2026 · applies to the MatchTempo beta for Apple Watch and iPhone

In short: MatchTempo has no accounts and no servers of its own. What you record stays on your Apple Watch and iPhone. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising or tracking.

Who we are

MatchTempo is made by an independent developer in the United Kingdom, who is responsible for your data under UK data protection law. You can get in touch at support@matchtempo.app.

What the app keeps, and where

Your profile

Your name, and optionally an email address and a self-described gender, plus your date of birth to confirm you're 18 or over. These are stored on your iPhone and copied to your Watch so it can record without your phone nearby. They are not sent to us.

Your recordings

When you record a game, the Watch stores the timings, heart rate, location (for distance and your route), motion, the score and goals you tap, and your recovery measurement. Recordings move from your Watch to your iPhone directly, using Apple's connection between the two devices, and stay on your iPhone.

Players you add as an organiser

If you use the organiser, the names and usual positions of the players you add, and the teams and results you enter, are stored on your iPhone only. If you add other people, please let them know.

Apple Health

With your permission, MatchTempo reads heart-rate samples, workouts and active energy from Apple Health to show your figures. If you turn on Save to Health, it writes the workout, with its route, active energy and distance, back to Apple Health. You can change these permissions at any time in the Health app or in Settings.

Health data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone else.

Location, motion and Bluetooth

Location is used only while you're recording, to measure distance and save your route. Motion data helps describe your movement during a recording. Bluetooth is used only to connect a heart-rate strap you choose.

What you share

When you share teams, results or anything else through the iPhone share sheet, it goes to the app you pick, such as WhatsApp or Messages, and that app's own privacy policy applies.

Testing through TestFlight

During the beta, Apple's TestFlight may share crash reports, basic device information (such as model and software version) and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send with the developer. Apple's privacy policy covers how Apple handles this.

Backups

Like most apps, MatchTempo's data on your iPhone can be included in your own iCloud or computer backups, under your Apple account's settings. We don't have access to those backups.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your devices until you delete it. To remove everything MatchTempo stored, delete the app from your iPhone and your Watch. Workouts saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.

Age

MatchTempo is for adults aged 18 and over.

Your rights

You have rights under UK data protection law, including to access, correct and delete your data. Because everything is on your own devices, you can do most of this yourself, in the app or by deleting it. For anything else, email support@matchtempo.app. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If MatchTempo changes how it uses data, for example by adding optional accounts or backup, this page will be updated first, and the app will explain the change before anything new is collected.
